An Animated Collaboration by Margaret Bialis and Friends

I was so excited when I was asked to collaborate with Margaret Bialis on a short film. It was about seeing the world as big and complex but slowing down to look at the smaller simpler things. My idea, which is featured right after the main title, was just reflecting a time where we were all trapped inside. A lot of people felt cooped up but I used that time to catch up on hobbies, personal projects, learning languages, reading, etc and genuinely made the best out of it. The film was successful, even having a write up on Stash Media.

preproduction

I started with an isolated character, a bit dishelved, cooped up at home, orders a lot of takeout but is trying to enjoy it. I modeled them bulky, square and mostly naked. I gave them designs sketched in procreate, rigging them with character rigger in Cinema.

production

During the pandemic, as the world was crumbling, we had to stay positive, have fun amidst the chaos. And that's what our character does. He dances, and twerks, and partys. He's the only one in the neighborhood trying to live it up. The neighborhood is shades of the same mood but our character's house was upbeat and lively.
